Days of Thanks #11

Today, I am grateful (as I so often am) for the way that another person’s words can sometimes so perfectly capture what I am feeling. An old friend from high school sent me this W.S. Merwin poem a few months ago and it has stuck with me since then. It seemed most appropriate today.

Separation

Your absence has gone through me
Like thread through a needle.
Everything I do is stitched with its color.

~W.S. Merwin

It’s something to strive for, to look at our loss in this way. An absence but also a presence. A beautiful presence.

Isn't is a blessing that just a few short lines can touch us so deeply.
